A high court in Ikeja, Lagos, has approved a N50 million bail for the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on April 12, 2024. Judge Rahmon Oshodi presided over the ruling, stipulating that Emefiele must provide two sureties for the same amount as part of the bail conditions.
Emefiele, who faces 26 charges related to allegations of office misuse, entered a not-guilty plea alongside his co-defendant, Henry Omole, during the trial. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned both individuals before Justice Oshodi, marking the charge as ID/23787c/2024 and dating it April 3, 2024.
Originally adjourned until April 11, the trial reconvened on April 12 due to an extension of the public holiday.
