President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the establishment of two crucial bodies aimed at addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges. The Presidential Economic Coordination Council (PECC) and the Economic Management Team Emergency Taskforce (EET) are strategic measures to strengthen the nation’s economic governance and ensure effective planning and implementation.

The PECC, chaired by President Tinubu with Vice-President Kashim Shettima as Vice-Chairman, comprises key government officials including the Senate President, the Governor’s Forum Chairman, and relevant ministers. Additionally, members of the organized private sector, such as Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu, will join for a limited period, enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors.

The EET, tasked with formulating and executing an emergency economic plan, will be led by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance. Its members include representatives from various sectors, including the Central Bank, security agencies, state governors, and key economic institutions.
