Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged the panel members investigating the N30 trillion “Ways and Means” loans secured from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by the Federal Government not to overlook any detail.
The panel, tasked with probing the loans obtained during the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has also been directed to investigate the over N1 trillion Anchor Borrower Programme of the CBN under the immediate past administration.
Inaugurating the 17-member Ad-hoc Committee in Abuja, Akpabio emphasized the importance of uncovering every aspect of the N30 trillion loan facility within a six-week period. He urged the lawmakers to prioritize their responsibilities, focusing on the task at hand with impartiality and dedication, while avoiding personal and partisan interests.
Akpabio stressed the sensitivity of the investigation and encouraged constant engagement with relevant stakeholders and consultants to gather valuable insights. He emphasized the need for open communication with both the executive and the public throughout the investigation process.
