Foxconn Founder Terry Gou Resurfaces at Company’s Event
Terry Gou, the billionaire founder of Foxconn, made a high-profile appearance at the company’s 50th anniversary celebration, marking his first public appearance in months since ending his bid for Taiwan’s presidency.
Gou, who remains the largest shareholder of Foxconn, stepped down as chief in 2019 but is still esteemed by company executives as “the Founder”.
Gou’s reemergence follows his withdrawal from the Taiwan presidential race in late November, attributed to the challenge of uniting the island’s opposition. Since then, he had maintained a low profile, with limited public appearances, including a recent visit to a temple.
The event in Taipei also featured the presence of prominent figures such as Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams, SoftBank Founder and CEO Masayoshi Son, and ARM CEO Rene Haas.
