The House of Representatives Committee on Ports and Harbours, led by Chairman Nnolim Nnaji, has called upon the Federal Government to take immediate action in reconstructing key ports across the country.
Following a comprehensive three-day oversight visit to the agency, Nnaji emphasized the critical need for urgent reconstruction, particularly highlighting the deteriorating conditions at ports such as Tincan Island and the imperative for comprehensive rehabilitation at Apapa, Rivers, Warri, Onne, and Calabar Port Complexes.
During a press conference marking the conclusion of their oversight visit, Chairman Nnaji acknowledged the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) commendable performance. He praised the NPA’s remarkable achievements in revenue generation and remittance to the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the federation.
Additionally, he applauded the management’s efforts in infrastructure development and equipment renewal, showcasing their dedication to enhancing port operations and efficiency amidst challenging circumstances.
