Customs Forecasts Revenue Surpassing N5.079 Trillion

The Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has expressed confidence in the Service’s ability to exceed its revenue target of N5.079 trillion for the year 2024.

Presenting the NCS’s 2024 budget to the Senate Committee on Customs, Adeniyi defended the Service’s N706 billion budget allocation, highlighting priorities such as consolidating ongoing projects and enhancing staff welfare to boost performance.

Adeniyi outlined strategic initiatives aimed at achieving the revenue target, including the implementation of the National Single Window advocated by the Federal Ministry of Finance. He underscored the importance of streamlining and standardizing Customs processes, addressing port congestion, fostering collaboration with other agencies for enhanced efficiency, intensifying anti-smuggling efforts, and integrating ICT into operations.

As Nigeria navigates economic challenges and seeks to enhance revenue generation, the Nigerian Customs Service remains pivotal in facilitating trade, protecting national interests, and contributing to sustainable development goals.
