Customs Intercepts N854m Worth of Vehicles in January

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja, revealed that it intercepted 11 imported used vehicles and other contraband valued at N854 million in January.

Hussein Ejibunu, the Customs Area Controller, made this disclosure in a statement on Tuesday, highlighting the command’s efforts in combating smuggling activities.

During the period, the command recorded a total of 60 seizures, comprising various contraband items. Ejibunu emphasized that smuggling encompasses a range of illegal activities such as false declaration, concealment of goods, and trafficking in prohibited or restricted items. These actions pose significant risks and have detrimental effects on the economy and society as a whole.

Ejibunu also emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership with stakeholders, advocating for enhanced information sharing and intelligence gathering to effectively combat smuggling.
