Pres. Akufo-Addo Sends Condolence on the Passing of Namibian President

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his condolences to the Government and people of Namibia following the passing of their President, His Excellency Hage Geingob. Geingob, who served as Namibia’s longest-serving prime minister and third president, passed away at the age of 82 in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.

First elected president in 2014, Geingob was in his second term as president and had revealed in January that he was undergoing treatment for cancer. Namibia is set to hold presidential and national assembly elections later in the year.The announcement of Geingob’s passing came from the acting president, Nangolo Mbumba, expressing utmost sadness and regret.

President Akufo-Addo, in his statement, conveyed deep condolences on behalf of the Ghanaian people, expressing solidarity with the Government and citizens of Namibia during this difficult time.The passing of President Geingob marks the end of an era in Namibian politics and leadership. His contributions to his country’s development and his service to the people of Namibia will be remembered and cherished by many.
