Commercial Cold Holdings (CCH), a prominent cold chain logistics platform under the control of African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), a subsidiary of Old Mutual Alternative Investments, is making significant strides in the temperature-controlled logistics sector.

CCH has announced the successful acquisition of Sequence Logistics, a leading provider of temperature-controlled warehousing, distribution, and supply chain solutions across Southern Africa. The acquisition has been funded through increased equity commitments from AIIM-managed funds, AIIF4 and IDEAS Managed Fund.

According to AIIM Investment Director Damilola Agbaje, this acquisition positions CCH to establish strong, long-term partnerships with major retailers, wholesalers, and food producers, aligning with its strategic objectives.

To further strengthen its presence in the temperature-controlled logistics industry, CCH has appointed Paul Gibbons as CEO. With over two decades of experience in cold chain distribution and supply chain management, Gibbons will lead CCH’s expansion efforts.

CCH’s interest in Sequence Logistics is driven by the company’s technological prowess and ability to deliver high-quality services at attractive prices. Sequence Logistics owns 46,000 pallets of temperature-controlled storage capacity across multiple facilities and also manages a fleet of trucks for scheduled store deliveries.

The acquisition of Sequence Logistics follows CCH’s successful acquisition of CCS Logistics from Oceana Group Limited in 2022, marking CCH’s commitment to growth in the temperature-controlled logistics sector.

My Opinion: CCH’s acquisition of Sequence Logistics underscores the growing importance of efficient temperature-controlled logistics, particularly in regions like Southern Africa. This move not only expands CCH’s presence but also reflects the increasing demand for reliable and technology-driven solutions.
