Two measures that are part of the terms of the Sh139 billion soft loan the National Assembly obtained from the World Bank on May 30 have been put to public comment.
Kenyans have until June 26 to make comments on the Conflict of Interest Bill No.12 of 2023 and the Privatization Bill No.22 of 2023, according to a notice from the National Assembly.
Also crucial to Kenya’s recent financing discussions with the IMF were the two legislation.
Kenya requested a loan from the World Bank to help with the budget for the fiscal year that ends this month.
The loan was approved a week after the fifth review of the existing program with the IMF, which allowed for an additional withdrawal of Sh57.1 billion by the country.
