The United States declared that it had taken efforts to enforce visa bans on individuals who interrupted Nigeria’s recent general elections.

“These individuals have been involved in the intimidation of voters through threats and physical violence, the manipulation of vote results, and other activity that undermines Nigeria’s democratic process,” Mr Blinken said.

The US, however, did not name the Nigerians affected by the current visa ban, despite the fact that some Nigerians, including infamous Lagos bus transport chief Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, were captured on tape threatening potential voters.

Nigeria’s most recent federal and state elections were held on February 25 and March 18, respectively.
The process was marred by a variety of anomalies, including pockets of violence in various sections of the country.
