Seplat is Mandated to have an Annual General Meeting by the Court.

The annual general meeting of the local energy company Seplat Energy Plc has been mandated by an Abuja-based Federal High Court. Akinnifesi & Adelaja V. Seplat Energy Plc, case number FHC/ABJ/PET/7/2023, was the one in which the order was rendered as a ruling.

Seplat Energy declares that its AGM will take place on May 10, 2023, as specifically ordered by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, in accordance with the law and the judgment. “Any current or former directors, shareholders, and officers of the company are further prohibited by the judgment from canceling or delaying the AGM as announced to the public,” it continued.

According to The PUNCH, one of Seplat Energy Plc’s stockholders and a lawyer named Hyginus Nnubia had already launched a lawsuit against the business. 

Nnubia, in his originating summons in the suit marked FHC/L/CS/484/2023, is asking the court for an order mandating the defendant to hold its 2023 AGM in May 2023, or any other time within the time permitted by the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 20720.
