The N50,000 per unit surcharge on imported secondhand autos that are hoisted by people has been halted by Ports & Terminal Multipurpose Limited. The terminal had stated in a notice dated April 17 that the extra fee would start to apply as of May 1, 2023.

The payment was justified by the need to offset the significant expense of managing the cars with a folk lift, according to the announcement. Parts of the notification stated, “PTML would like to bring to the attention of its esteemed customers that all folk-lifted cars will be subject to an additional charge of N50,000 per unit beginning on May 1, 2023.

This fee is required to compensate the substantial expenses associated with handling the cars with people lift from the vessel to  the final delivery. “However, the General Manager of PTML, Mr Tunde Keshinro, confirmed that the charge had been suspended.
