Nigeria will receive $5.7 million in assistance from the United States of America to oversee elections. This was stated in the paper our correspondent acquired from the Congressional Budget Justification for Foreign Operations for Fiscal Year 2024.
The $67.1 million budgeted for international activities in Nigeria includes the $5.7 million as part of its total. $5 million of the total amount will go toward helping Nigeria fulfill its promise to have net-zero carbon emissions by the year 2060 by assisting with the Nigeria Energy Transition Plan.
The greatest allocations for this fiscal year went to Mozambique ($78.6 million), Kenya ($87.3), and Congo ($98 million). As a result, it is anticipated that the fiscal year for 2024 will start on October 1, 2023.
Assistance to Nigeria will promote stability, economic growth, and advance Nigeria’s path to sustainable development. As the economic engine of West Africa, Nigeria is a crucial U.S. trade, investment and security partner, and plays a foundational role in regional prosperity.
