According to Leadway Assurance Company Ltd, it has taken “mitigation steps” after discovering a hacker intrusion in its system that threatened to expose consumer data. Data purportedly stolen from the insurance company was threatened to be released by the ALPHV ransomware organization, also known as BlackCat.
The infamous gang claimed that the companies’ lax security measures allowed for hacking.
A company’s system of procedures known as a continuity plan is intended to restore crucial business operations in the event of an unanticipated tragedy. Natural disasters, hacking, service interruptions, and other possible dangers could all constitute these catastrophes.
Also, Leadway Assurance advised all of its clients to “avoid any unsolicited correspondence from any channel” other than those that were explicitly approved for use “during this period.”
