According to data given by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria’s broadband subscribers increased steadily over the course of a year, from 92.01 million in January 2023 to 92.6 million in February 2023.
Moreover, the growth caused broadband penetration to rise from 48.20% in January 2023 to 48.49% in February 2023. Nigeria reached its goal of 30% broadband penetration in December 2018 and has subsequently maintained a steady increase in broadband penetration and subscriptions nationwide.
Mr. Mohammed Rudman, Chief Executive Officer of Internet Xchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), credited the increase in broadband adoption to IXPN’s enhanced domestication of data within Nigeria. Also, the NCC numbers revealed a rise in active internet subscription in the past six months.
