The Federal Government Cancels Benue’s N84 billion Debt.

In order to discharge its debts of N84 billion, the Benue State Government said it had engaged into a debt exchange deal with the Federal Government.

A portion of the state’s outstanding domestic debts, which total N84 billion and were incurred by the Governor Samuel Ortom-led administration since its start in 2015, would be settled, according to Olofu, who was accompanied by the Commissioner of Information, Mike Inalegwu.

Around $18 billion from the Federation’s joint account was spent in total. Hence, the Governors’ Forum met and determined that because the states owe the FG because of interventions in which the state governments took part and because the FG opted to act unilaterally and without permission.
