After the voluntary production reduction by Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members and OPEC allies, collectively known as OPEC+, the price of Brent, the world’s standard for crude oil, increase.
Global oil price statistics indicated that the price of oil, which had been hovering around $70 per barrel a month earlier and had reached its lowest level in almost 15 months, unexpectedly increased to $84.7 per barrel.
On Monday, the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee of OPEC convened its 48th meeting via videoconference, according to information posted on the organization’s website, which also made official announcements about certain nations’ voluntary reduction in oil output.
According to the statement, the committee looked through the information on crude oil output for the months of January and February 2023 and observed the overall conformity for participating OPEC and non-OPEC countries of the Declaration of Cooperation.
