Minister Rejects Request To Create New Agencies

The Federal Government has rejected a proposal from the National Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies to establish new organizations to oversee and assess Federal Government initiatives.

The Federal Government objected to this role overlap, complaining that too many organizations were working on the same projects. “We have too many people, and they are all doing different things.

He claims that the plan does not go against the Oronsaye report’s recommendations, which include combining and dissolving at least 90 federal agencies.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and the Code of Conduct Bureau, the main three anti-corruption organizations in the country, were urged to be merged.

Prior to it, the financial minister said implementing the National Development Plan would require N350tn. However, the FG will contribute only nine per cent of that amount. The rest, she said, would come from sub-national governments and the private sector.
