According to the European Union, the humanitarian aid of €102.5 million will support Nigeria and other nations in the Lake Chad region. Other nations mentioned in the top bloc of Europe’s humanitarian lifeline include Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.

During the third high-level conference on the Lake Chad Region in Niamey, the European Union made the commitment. The conference’s goal was to encourage regional and cross-border agreement on the necessary changes for successfully addressing the region’s current difficulties.

The financing, according to the EU, was intended to address issues with the urgent food requirements of households and communities affected by violence as well as to treat severe acute undernutrition in children under the age of five.

In recent decades, the area had been the scene of ongoing hostilities that had killed many, while many more had been left displaced.

Punch.
