NNPC Denies Exporting 17.88m Barrels Crude Oil without Proper Documentation.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited disputed claims that the oil company illegally exported 17.88 million barrels of crude oil. “The public should not believe the allegations”, according to Garba-Deen Muhammad, the NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer.
“Our attention has been raised to an internet publication, stating that NNPC exported 17.877 million barrels of crude oil without adequate paperwork in four years,” the oil company wrote in a series of tweets that were signed by Muhammad (2016 to 2020).
“The Auditor-report General’s in question did list 32 oil marketing organizations implicated in the failure to complete the NXP forms, but that in no way implies that the proceeds from the sale were misappropriated,”
The company added, “It should also be noted that NNPC does not appoint Inspection agents as alleged, but rather, it is the sole responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Finance.
“Therefore, the general public is advised to disregard the said malicious publication, and instead, visit the relevant Auditor-General’s website to see the full content of the audit report, and be guided accordingly.”
