The Federal Government has been urged by the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria to make gasoline available at the 180/litre official pump price, arguing that Nigerians cannot continue to pay higher costs for the good.

The labor union warned that 2022 will be difficult on almost all fronts, including security, politics, the economy, health, and social life, in a New Year’s message that was made accessible in Abuja.

On the other hand, it stated that “there is hope for a magnificent 2023 if we are willing to birth the required change and hold our leaders responsible as Nigeria we genuinely seek can only be accomplished by collective fight.”

“We also demand that the Buhari administration, the Federal government make sure that PMS is accessible and offered for sale at the set pump price.” “The union recalled that the life of the Nigerian masses was made more difficult by hyperinflation which notched above 20 per-cent, the misery index which soared to an all-time high, hydra-headed unemployment and numerous unfulfilled promises.

Speaking further, the TUC decried the high level of insecurity and inflation, saying “the war against banditry, terrorism and sectarian violence must be total and uncompromising. Inflation has eroded the purchasing power of Nigeria workers, the minimum wage has been further deleted and the value of naira has become worthless.
