Lagosians who live along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway and beyond are thrilled by the prospects that the first phase of the Lagos Blue Rail Line’s infrastructural work brings. The master plan includes 14 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, over 20 water routes, six rail lines, one monorail, numerous significant new highways, and six monorails.
Abimbola Akinajo, the managing director of LAMATA, called the development “wonderful” and said it opened a new chapter for Lagos. The state’s unified electronic payment system, the Cowry Card, which is now used for BRT and regulated ferry services, will be utilized by passengers.
Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation, emphasized in his message of goodwill that the start of the development of infrastructure for the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line rail is a confirmation of Sanwo-Olu’s expounded vision for Lagos State.
