According to the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), between 2020 and 2022, at least 500 of its members left the nation. In the first ten months of this year, 2,946 nurses and midwives moved to the UK in search of better opportunities.

According to a 2022 UK immigration report, only 42,966 Indians received more working visas than Nigeria’s 13,609 healthcare professionals (including doctors) in the previous year.

The association will host a one-day summit with the potential to usher in a turning point in Nigerian medical education.
