According to Mohammed Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, the right-of-way fee for telecommunications companies wishing to install broadband equipment in green spaces would only cost N14.50.

The lowered fees, he said, will start on December 1 of 2022 and last for the next two years. The FCT minister claimed that there was no telecommunications infrastructure in green spaces in the FCT.

The federation’s 36 states, the federal capital territory administration, and the federal government all came to an agreement in 2018 to synchronize right-of-way fees across the nation.

The FCT minister’s N14.50 cost for green spaces represents a 90% discount from the usual N145 per meter fees.
