According to official data released, China’s daily Covid cases have reached their highest level since the pandemic started. Despite the government’s continued use of a harsh zero-tolerance policy that includes punishing lockdowns and travel bans.

Considering China’s enormous population of 1.4 billion, the statistics are rather insignificant. However, because of Beijing’s draconian zero-Covid regulations, even minor epidemics have the power to close down large towns and place the contacts of infected individuals under severe quarantine.

The National Health Bureau reported that the nation had 31,454 domestic cases, 27,517 of which had no symptoms. As Covid instances increase, a number of cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chongqing, have tightened Covid regulations.

Guangzhou, a center of industry in the south, was where over a third of the most recent Covid cases were found.
