In order to allow bank customers to exchange their old naira notes for new ones, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has ordered all commercial banks in the nation to open on Saturdays through January 31, 2023.

This was said during the CBN fair in Ilorin by Mr. Osita Nwasinobi, the director of the apex bank’s corporate communications department.

He clarified that up until January 31, 2023, both the new and the old currencies will be legal tender in Nigeria and would continue to be used in commerce. The head of the CBN claimed that the redesign of the Naira notes was necessary for macroeconomic stability.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed intentions to redesign, print, release, and circulate a new series of three banknotes, according to The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
