In August 2022, there were 210 million active mobile customers, up from 208.6million in July, with a teledensity of 109.99%. This was at the NCC Day of the 17th Abuja International Trade Fair by Prof. Umar Danbatta, who was in rep by Director, Consumer Affairs Bureau, Efosa Idehen.

In this new climate, according to Danbatta, Nigeria’s SMEs must be able to exploit new technology; and develop the essential digital skills to conduct business on a global scale.

The complete rollout of the 5G network in Nigeria is by the NCC, according to Danbatta; who also added that the businesses that would roll out the service have been granted spectrum licenses.

Idehen said that the trade show’s subject, “Creating an Export Ready Market via SME Digitization,” could not have come at a better moment because it fell just after the Federal Government gave its approval for the rollout of 5G technology.
