In order to raise money for its purpose of giving internet connection to schools in underdeveloped areas all over the world, the humanitarian relief organization UNICEF has used Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The “Giga initiative” is the name of the project, which intends to assist 1. 1 million schools in 49 different nations.

The next phase in the process is developing a cutting-edge fundraising drive; that draws on the world of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and nonfungible tokens; after Project Connect has determined the number of schools in need of internet accessibility (NFTs).

UNICEF sold 1,000 data-driven non-fungible tokens (NFTs); making it the United Nations’ (UN) largest-ever NFT collection to date. The project was successful and offers an exciting application for blockchain-based NFTs as a transparent, community-building fundraising method. The public auction in March 2022 raised $550,000 and was completely sold out in three hours.

Collectors will be able to possess a glimpse of Giga’s development at this moment as these precise NFTs are purchased. This is reportedly the first time the UN has produced NFTs based on data, in addition to being the largest known NFT collection from the organization.
