Nigeria Seeks OECD Membership To Increase Seed Exports.

Plans have been in place by Nigeria’s National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASCC); to admit Nigeria as a full member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The OECD scheme is an international organisation in the seed trade.  Nigeria currently has observer status and is working to get full membership; so that its goods can participate in the global seed trade.

Director-General of NASC, stated that if Nigeria became an OECD member, seeds from the country would be easily available around the world, which would put an end to all types of seed dumping in Nigeria.

Nigeria is hopeful that it would seize the opportunity and succeed after having OECD experts evaluate its facilities.

Punch.
