More than two years after the closure of the Tunisian-Algerian border due to the coronavirus pandemic, on Friday several cars and signs celebrate the reopening of land borders between the two countries.

Authorities expect more than a million Algerian visitors to Tunisia during the summer months, and most of them are tourists.

After two years of closure, nine border crossings between the two countries reopened at midnight on Thursday.

The decision was announced on July 5 by Algeria’s President Abdelmajid Tebboune to his Tunisian counterpart Kais Saied.
