The Nigeria Air, the national carrier, may not hit the sky due to a major challenge hindering its operations.

The CEO, Captain Dapo Olumide, confirmed on Monday, when getting the airline’s NCAA/ATR1/ATL21 Air Transport License. The ATL would run for a period of five years from June 3, 2022, to June 2, 2027. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is likely to present the airline with its Air Transport Licence on Monday.

What the CEO is saying about the delay?
He said, “It is very difficult to get the aircraft. Which is the effect of COVID-19 on the aviation sector globally. “The aircraft are available but there are all sorts of issues because this is the summer peak period. The airlines are bringing them out slowly. It takes time to bring an aircraft out of storage. “We’ve already identified the aircraft because it’s one of the NCAA’s requirements, but we’re still working on titles and such. Nigeria Air’s CEO added that the airline was looking for planes and that the national carrier was working with the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission.

What NCAA is saying?
The Director-General, NCAA, Capt. Musa Nuhu, explained that the acquisition of the license by Nigeria Air is a big step in its pursuit of commercial flight services. “We are the civil aviation regulator. We work with all operators, both those who are already in the sector, aspiring and processing. NCAA, according to Nuhu, was looking forward to seeing the airline meet the remaining AOC standards.

In case you missed it
Nairametrics had reported that the NCAA was set to deliver the ATL to the management of Nigeria Air. At the NCAA’s headquarters at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. A source said, “”NCAA is likely to make the license presentation to the interim management of Nigeria Air today, Monday, June 6, 2022. “The process was delayed because NCAA had to ensure protocols and requirements or conditions are met.
