CIPM Unveils Body Of Knowledge, Competency Framework

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management has unveiled its body of knowledge and competency framework.

According to the CIPM, the focus for many business leaders is realigning and reskilling their people to add value to self, and to all stakeholders in order to impact the growth and positive business outcomes.

The unveiling was done at the institute’s 53rd Annual National Conference held in Abuja on Thursday, according to a statement.

“The body of knowledge is to help us as professionals from the entry-level to the masters,” the CIPM President, Mr Olusegun Mojeed, said.

The Lead Consultant, Dr Olumuyiwa Oludayo, said, “We cannot continue to practice without a guideline. We cannot continue to practice without a framework. The governing council two years ago commissioned 28 of us with the project.

“As part of efforts to serve our members and profession, CIPM seeks to continually provide resources to enable an HR professional to succeed in their practice and realise their professional goals.

“Thus, CIPM, through the various committees of council, coordinated by the Research and Publications Committee led by Prof. Olushola Fajana, developed the CIPM Body of Knowledge and Competency Framework to identify and situate the professional competencies needed by HR professionals in all stages of HR career and across all sizes, forms of business entities.”

The former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Guinness Nigeria Plc, Seni Adetu, said the right talent would guarantee business sustainability.

He said, “You are in business to grow value and build performance. You must know what value is to the consumer and pursue it.

“Nothing surpasses quality, people performance and reputation.  If you attend to a few things focusing on the opportunities, there is still value to be created in Nigeria.”

The President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Comfort Eyitayo, said organisations that would thrive in the emerging world must be equipped to be relevant and adaptable to the future of work.

According to her, the world is at a critical junction in global and national history, and there is a need for a more sustainable workforce that will be dynamic.
