Tesco’s online grocery store website and app have been removed by hacking attempts, retail giants said.

The supermarket chain said it was experiencing “great turmoil” after “trying to interfere with our system.”

The issue first occurred on Saturday after the customer reported that they could not place, modify, confirm, or track active delivery of the order. Tesco initially admitted that there was a “problem” in the banner of the website.

In a tweet posted Saturday, the company said it was working to “get things back and do it.”

A Tesco spokeswoman said the problem continued on Sunday: “Since yesterday, online grocery websites and apps have been confused.

“We had a problem with our site’s search function because we tried to interfere with our system.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the complete restoration of all services.

“There is no reason to believe that this issue will affect customer data. We continue to take continuous action to keep all data safe.”
