Carrie Symonds, the pregnant fiancee of British prime minister Boris Johnson, has also tested positive for coronavirus, according to reports in British media.

In a statement on Twitter, Symonds said: “I’ve spent the past week in bed with the main symptoms of Coronavirus. I haven’t needed to be tested and, after seven days of rest, I feel stronger and I’m on the mend,”

“Being pregnant with Covid-19 is obviously worrying.” she added.

Johnson himself has been confined to Downing Street since testing positive on March 27, after suffering mild symptoms. He was due to leave quarantine yesterday.

“Although I’m feeling better, and I’ve done my seven days of isolation, alas I still have one of the symptoms, a minor symptom – I still have a temperature,” he said.

“So in accordance with Government advice I must continue my self-isolation until that symptom itself goes.”

Symonds has not been living with him during his isolation, AFP reports.

Johnson has been conducting meeting by videoconference and has posted self-filmed videos of himself on Twitter, seeking to “reassure” the nation that he is in “constant touch” with his ministers and the health authorities in the fight against the coronavirus.
