The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recorded N7.2 trillion in profit after tax in 2025, marking a significant increase from the N5.76 trillion profit reported in the previous year.

The company’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, disclosed the figures during the presentation of NNPCL’s 2025 Audited Financial Statements on Tuesday. According to him, the company generated N34.5 trillion in revenue during the year, with the resulting profit representing an increase of more than 30 per cent compared with 2024.

Despite the stronger profit performance, NNPCL’s revenue declined during the period. The company recorded N34.5 trillion in revenue in 2025, representing a N10.6 trillion drop from the N45.1 trillion figure reported for the preceding year.

Ojulari also disclosed that NNPCL paid N22.3 trillion in taxes, royalties and other remittances to the Federal Government during the year. The company’s operations also recorded average crude oil production of 1.77 million barrels per day, alongside average gas production of 7.2 billion standard cubic feet per day.

The latest financial results highlight a year of higher profitability for NNPCL despite the decline in reported revenue. With its profit after tax rising from N5.76 trillion in 2024 to N7.2 trillion in 2025, the state-owned energy company continues to play a major role in Nigeria’s petroleum sector and government revenue generation.
