Nigeria’s energy infrastructure company Oilserv has signed an agreement with the Gabonese Government to develop and commercialise hydrocarbon reserves in two oil and gas blocks, expanding the company’s activities beyond Nigeria into the wider African energy market.
The agreement, signed by Gabon’s Minister of Petroleum and Gas, Clotaire Kondja, and Oilserv Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, Emeka Okwuosa, covers the DEF-3 and D4-5 hydrocarbon blocks. According to Oilserv, the deal establishes a framework for developing the reserves and bringing them into commercial production.
Beyond exploration and production, the Oilserv Gabon oil and gas deal also includes plans for gas transportation, compression and treatment infrastructure. The infrastructure is expected to support thermal power generation and industrial activities in Gabon, potentially linking the development of the blocks to the country’s broader energy and industrial needs.
Oilserv described the agreement as a significant step in its expansion across Africa’s energy sector, positioning the company as an energy infrastructure and solutions provider. The deal also highlights the growing involvement of Nigerian energy companies in oil and gas projects across the continent, as firms seek opportunities beyond the domestic market.
The Gabon agreement comes amid other cross-border investments involving Nigerian companies and African governments. In April 2026, Nigeria-based Marginal Energy Limited signed a $225 million offshore oil exploration and production agreement with Sierra Leone, while Dangote Group has also pursued plans for a proposed refinery in Kenya. These developments point to increasing regional participation by Nigerian businesses in Africa’s oil, gas and energy infrastructure sector.
