Meta has launched Meta One, a new subscription service that gives users expanded access to artificial intelligence (AI) tools across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI, as the technology giant steps up efforts to generate revenue from its growing AI investments. The new service includes more than 50 features and is being rolled out globally, with Meta saying its core apps and everyday Meta AI experience will remain free.

For individual users and AI enthusiasts, Meta One comes with Core at $7.99 per month and Premium at $19.99 per month. The plans combine existing Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus features with greater access to AI-powered tools, including image and video generation through Meta’s Muse models, Instagram’s Restyle feature, voice effects and other creative tools. Premium users will receive higher usage levels than those on the Core plan.

Meta is also targeting creators and businesses with four additional subscription tiers: Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max. The plans start at $14.99, $49.99, $149 and $499 per month respectively, although Meta said pricing, features and availability could vary by region, app and account. The packages include tools such as Meta Business Agent, verified badges, impersonation protection, audience insights and enhanced account-management features.

The Advanced plan is aimed at users running more developed online operations, offering features including story scheduling for up to 30 days, links in organic posts and Reels, exportable analytics, deeper audience insights and the ability to give team members access without sharing account passwords. Meta also plans to introduce Edits Plus, bringing additional cloud storage and greater access to the AI assistant within its Edits content-creation application.

The move comes as Meta looks to turn its substantial AI investment into a direct source of revenue beyond advertising. Appfigures data reported by TechCrunch showed Instagram’s worldwide daily revenue averaging about $1.2 million in the week of September 9, while Facebook reached about $528,000, following the rollout of earlier paid subscriptions. Meta said its latest subscription expansion already has 15 million subscriptions and trials, signalling a broader shift towards paid AI-powered features while keeping its basic social media and AI services accessible for free.
