WIOCC Group has secured a $300 million investment from the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Vision International Investment Company (Vision Invest) as the pan-African digital infrastructure provider steps up plans to expand data centres, fibre networks and subsea cable assets across the continent.

The investment was formalised through a Shareholder Subscription Agreement signed with the two investors during the LEAP 2026 Global Technology exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. WIOCC, which operates across more than 30 African countries, is the parent company of Open Access Data Centre (OADC), one of Nigeria’s leading data centre operators.

According to WIOCC Group CEO Chris Wood, the fresh capital will help accelerate the company’s infrastructure development programme at a time when demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital services is rapidly increasing. The company plans to deploy more data centres, expand its open-access terrestrial fibre network and invest strategically in new subsea cable infrastructure.

AFC President and CEO Samaila Zubairu said digital infrastructure has become just as important to economic development as transport and energy infrastructure. He noted that fibre networks, data centres and subsea cables are increasingly critical to helping African businesses and communities connect to the global digital economy, while supporting innovation and the continent’s growing AI ambitions.

The investment comes as Africa faces a significant digital infrastructure gap despite rising demand for data and computing capacity. The continent’s data centre market is expected to require between $10 billion and $20 billion in new investment as cloud and AI adoption accelerates. In Nigeria, WIOCC’s OADC has already invested more than $500 million in digital infrastructure over the past eight years, positioning the company to play a major role in the continent’s next phase of digital growth.
