Morocco has taken a significant leap toward becoming one of Africa’s leading digital economies after signing a strategic partnership with global critical digital infrastructure company Vertiv. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed in Rabat, reinforces the country’s commitment to expanding its digital capabilities through investments in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, high-performance computing (HPC), and advanced data centre infrastructure. The move is another major milestone in Morocco’s ambitious Digital Morocco 2030 vision.
The agreement was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, alongside Wojtek Piorko, Managing Director of Vertiv Africa, with Vertiv’s Regional Director for Northwest Africa, Zineb Kamri, also present. Speaking during the ceremony, the minister emphasized that a strong digital infrastructure is essential for Morocco’s technological independence, economic growth, innovation, and the modernization of public services. She described the partnership as a strategic investment that will strengthen the country’s digital future.
Through the collaboration, both parties will work together to exchange technical expertise, conduct joint research, and identify strategic projects that support Morocco’s expanding digital ecosystem. The partnership covers several critical sectors, including cloud infrastructure, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, data centres, and the electrical power and cooling systems required to keep these technologies operating efficiently. These initiatives are designed to support the country’s AI Made in Morocco roadmap and the national Cloud 2025–2030 strategy.
One of the standout projects under discussion is the development of a proposed 50-megawatt sovereign data centre in Rabat. If completed, the facility would significantly strengthen Morocco’s sovereign cloud infrastructure while providing the computing power needed for AI applications, cybersecurity, digital public services, and advanced scientific research. The project highlights Morocco’s growing focus on building secure, locally managed digital infrastructure capable of supporting future technological demands.
Following the signing, Minister Seghrouchni also met with executives from Cybastion and N+ONE Datacenters, alongside Vertiv representatives, to explore broader opportunities for collaboration in AI, sovereign cloud technologies, advanced computing, and digital infrastructure development. As Morocco continues investing heavily in next-generation technologies, this partnership with Vertiv signals the country’s determination to position itself as a regional innovation and technology hub, making digital infrastructure a cornerstone of its long-term economic and technological transformation.
