Alphabet posted an impressive second-quarter performance, reporting a 24% year-on-year increase in revenue as its aggressive investment in artificial intelligence continued to deliver strong returns across its business. The tech giant credited the growth to rising demand for AI-powered products and services, with Google Cloud emerging as the biggest driver as businesses increasingly adopt the company’s AI infrastructure and enterprise solutions.

Google Cloud recorded a remarkable 82% jump in revenue during the quarter, reflecting growing enterprise demand for AI technologies. Alphabet revealed that its cloud backlog has expanded to $514 billion, highlighting a strong pipeline of future business. The company also disclosed that nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies now use Gemini Enterprise, a sign that its generative AI platform is becoming an essential tool for some of the world’s largest organizations.

The company’s expanding AI ecosystem continues to strengthen its position in the competitive cloud market. Alphabet said its combination of custom AI chips, advanced AI models, cybersecurity solutions, data analytics, and intelligent agent platforms has helped attract more enterprise customers while encouraging existing clients to deepen their AI investments. Growth was also evident through Google Cloud Marketplace, where transaction volumes increased more than sevenfold compared to the same period last year.

Artificial intelligence is also reshaping Google’s consumer products. Revenue from Search and Other businesses climbed 17% as users embraced AI-powered features such as AI Overviews and AI Mode, which have now been combined into a unified search experience. According to Alphabet, AI Mode has surpassed one billion monthly active users worldwide, driving higher search activity while continuing to generate billions of website visits every week.

Momentum was equally strong across Alphabet’s broader AI portfolio. More than nine million developers now build applications with Gemini AI models each month, while the Gemini app has grown to 950 million monthly active users after daily usage tripled over the past year. Beyond AI software, the company also reported a 13% increase in YouTube advertising revenue and highlighted continued investments in Waymo’s autonomous driving technology, Wing’s drone delivery service, cybersecurity, and AI-powered drug discovery through Isomorphic Labs. Together, these initiatives reinforce Alphabet’s long-term strategy of making artificial intelligence the foundation of its future growth.
