OpenAI’s Chief Revenue Officer, Denise Dresser, has said that enterprise artificial intelligence adoption is now at a “tipping point,” signaling a major shift in how businesses are integrating AI into their operations. Speaking during an interview with CNBC, she explained that companies are increasingly moving from experimentation to full-scale implementation of AI-powered systems.

To accelerate this shift, OpenAI has launched a new initiative known as the OpenAI Deployment Company. The new business unit is designed to help organisations quickly adopt AI by improving how products are built and integrated into real-world workflows. According to Dresser, the goal is to scale AI adoption across complex business systems more efficiently.

As part of the expansion, OpenAI also acquired applied AI consulting firm Tomoro, bringing in about 150 engineers specialising in deploying advanced AI models. These “forward-deployed engineers” will work directly with businesses to understand their operations and embed AI into everyday workflows, helping companies transition from traditional systems to AI-driven processes.

Dresser, who previously served as CEO of Slack, noted that enterprise clients now account for more than 40% of OpenAI’s revenue. She added that the company expects enterprise and consumer revenue to reach parity by the end of 2026. This growth comes as competition intensifies, with companies like Google and Anthropic also pushing aggressively into enterprise AI solutions.

The announcement reflects a rapidly heating AI race in the corporate sector. Anthropic recently partnered with Goldman Sachs and Blackstone to speed up AI adoption across hundreds of companies, while OpenAI continues to expand partnerships, including its recent integration with Amazon Web Services. Dresser also acknowledged OpenAI’s longstanding partnership with Microsoft, while hinting at a broader strategy to meet enterprise clients on multiple cloud platforms.
