Dangote Petroleum Refinery has exported an estimated 57 million barrels of jet fuel between April 2024 and April 2026, marking a significant milestone in its growing presence in the global energy market. According to data from energy intelligence platform Kpler, shipments fluctuated across the period but eventually reached a peak of about 160,000 barrels per day in April 2026.
The refinery’s export journey began modestly in early 2024, when operations were still ramping up, with volumes around 20,000 barrels per day in April. However, shipments quickly gained momentum, rising and falling through 2024 as production stabilized and global demand patterns shifted across Africa, Europe, and the Americas. By the end of 2024, exports had climbed to about 65,000 barrels per day.
In 2025, the refinery recorded stronger performance, with a major surge in February and March when exports crossed 110,000 barrels per day. A standout moment came in July 2025, when shipments spiked to about 145,000 barrels per day—one of the highest levels in the entire reporting period. Although volumes dipped intermittently, they remained relatively strong through the year, reflecting consistent international demand.
By 2026, exports continued to show volatility but with an upward trend, rising from about 55,000 barrels per day in January to around 95,000 in March. The most dramatic increase came in April 2026, when geopolitical tensions, including the US-Iran conflict, contributed to a surge in demand, pushing exports to an average of 160,000 barrels per day—the highest recorded figure in the dataset.
Overall, Africa accounted for the largest share of shipments with about 23 million barrels, followed by Europe at 17 million barrels and the Americas at 11 million barrels. Despite Nigeria’s relatively low domestic jet fuel demand of about 13,000 barrels per day, Dangote Refinery has rapidly positioned itself as a key global supplier, reinforcing its influence in both regional and international aviation fuel markets.
