The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) industrial goods sector continues to show strong growth, with five leading companies reporting combined total assets of N9.31 trillion for the financial year ended December 2025. This marks an increase from N9.1 trillion in 2024 and highlights the sector’s robust performance. Average return on assets (ROA) among these companies also surged from 10.4% to 20.3%, reflecting improved profitability from their asset bases.
The NGX Industrial Goods Index reveals that these top five companies, each with assets exceeding N20 billion, now account for nearly 99.7% of the sector’s total assets of N9.34 trillion. Non-current assets contributed N5.9 trillion, while current assets totaled N3.3 trillion, indicating strong long-term investment positions and liquidity management within the sector.
Chemical & Allied Products Plc reported assets of N24.7 billion, up 25.5% from the previous year, with ROA rising to 24.7%. Pre-tax profits jumped 50.5% to N9.1 billion, driven by strong paint sales and diversified revenue streams. Beta Glass Plc followed with N184.3 billion in assets, posting a 155% increase in pre-tax profits to N50.65 billion due to rising demand for bottles and glassware in local markets.
Lafarge Plc and BUA Cement Plc reinforced their positions with assets of N1.20 trillion and N1.85 trillion, respectively. Lafarge’s pre-tax profit soared 170% to N411.3 billion, while BUA Cement achieved an impressive 367% increase in pre-tax earnings to N465.2 billion, largely due to strong cement sales. Both companies saw significant ROA improvements, reflecting efficient asset utilization and operational growth.
Leading the sector, Dangote Cement Plc recorded total assets of N6.04 trillion, representing 64.7% of the NGX Industrial Goods Index. Despite a slight 5.7% decline in assets, pre-tax profits jumped 109% to N1.53 trillion, fueled by domestic cement sales and reduced finance costs. The company’s stock gained over 33% year-to-date, maintaining its market dominance with a capitalization of N13.6 trillion.
