Nigeria is set to attract up to $200m in fresh investment following a landmark defence technology agreement between local firm Nigus International Investment Limited and UAE-based Elmirate Investment LLC. The deal signals a major step toward strengthening the country’s domestic defence capabilities while advancing its ambitions in cybersecurity and space technology.

The partnership will establish a next-generation technology and advanced manufacturing platform in Nigeria, designed to enhance local defence production and reduce reliance on imported security infrastructure. Speaking on the development, Nigus Executive Chairman, Prince Malik Ado-Ibrahim, described the initiative as a critical move for Africa’s future, noting that technological advancement is increasingly tied to both economic growth and national security.

According to Ado-Ibrahim, the collaboration aims to build a sustainable industrial base that supports innovation and facilitates meaningful technology transfer. The project will be driven through a newly created vehicle, Nigus Tactical Systems Ltd, which will oversee investment, operations, and the integration of advanced technologies across multiple sectors.

On the international side, Elmirate Capital’s Managing Director, Pankajj Ghode, said the $200m commitment reflects strong confidence in Nigeria’s economic potential. He added that the partnership would leverage global expertise in defence, aerospace, and cybersecurity while working with local talent to develop a resilient industrial ecosystem capable of driving long-term growth and regional stability.

The initiative will operate under Nigeria’s regulatory framework, including the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria and the DICON Act 2023. It will focus on manufacturing critical defence equipment such as drones, armoured vehicles, and munitions, alongside building cyber defence platforms and satellite systems. By integrating surveillance technologies, geospatial intelligence, and space-based infrastructure, the project aims to position Nigeria as a leading hub for advanced defence and technology in Africa while strengthening national security and economic independence.
