Nvidia is stepping up its involvement in India’s burgeoning artificial intelligence scene by reaching out to startups at the earliest stages of development. The chipmaker this week unveiled partnerships aimed at helping founders access technical expertise even before their companies officially launch. The strategy is part of Nvidia’s broader push to strengthen ties in one of the fastest-growing developer markets globally.
A central part of Nvidia’s effort is its collaboration with early-stage venture firm Activate, which plans to back 25–30 AI startups from its $75 million debut fund. The partnership will give these startups preferential access to Nvidia’s engineering resources and guidance. This comes alongside new alliances with other India-focused firms and nonprofit AI Grants India, which aims to support thousands of early-stage founders across the country.
The announcement coincides with India’s AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, which attracted major tech players including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. While Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang was unable to attend, executive vice president Jay Puri led a delegation to meet AI researchers, startup founders, and developers. These engagements highlight Nvidia’s intention to build personal connections with India’s next generation of AI innovators.
India has rapidly become a hub for AI talent, making it a critical market for Nvidia’s chips and software. By supporting startups early, the company hopes to secure long-term relationships as these firms scale and increase their computing needs. Activate founder Aakrit Vaish emphasized that Nvidia’s engagement in India has historically been “light-touch,” but the new approach focuses on hands-on collaboration from inception, giving startups direct access to the company’s technical expertise.
Nvidia already supports over 4,000 startups in India through its Inception program and has broadened partnerships with venture firms including Accel, Peak XV, Z47, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners. Its work with AI Grants India is projected to aid more than 10,000 founders in the coming year. By combining broad programs with curated early-stage support, Nvidia is positioning itself as a cornerstone for India’s fast-growing AI ecosystem, reflecting the intensifying global race to engage with AI talent in South Asia.
