Sahara Group has once again underscored its dedication to Africa’s energy future at the 2026 Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) in Abuja, joining policymakers, regulators, operators, and global partners to champion a sustainable and competitive energy sector. The event highlighted the critical role of collaboration and innovation in shaping Africa’s energy landscape.
Speaking with journalists, Wale Ajibade, Executive Director of Sahara Group, described Africa as “the new frontier for an energy renaissance poised to redefine the global energy balance.” He emphasized that unlocking the continent’s full potential requires bold investments, strategic partnerships, and regulatory alignment to foster long-term growth.
Ajibade highlighted Sahara Group’s track record as a leading African energy and infrastructure conglomerate with over three decades of operations. He stressed that the company’s success has been driven by a commitment to competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability, and called on operators across Africa to invest in capacity expansion and technological advancement responsibly.
On Africa’s energy transition, Ajibade urged stakeholders to adopt approaches that reflect the continent’s unique realities. “Our journey must be responsible, inclusive, and anchored on our developmental context. By leveraging resources, including transition fuels, and investing in talent and technology, Africa can drive economic growth, industrial expansion, and improved living standards,” he said.
He also commended the Nigerian government and energy regulators, including the NNPCL, NMDPRA, and NUPRC, for their efforts to transform the sector. Reaffirming Sahara Group’s commitment, Ajibade concluded that the company would continue investing in new technologies, human capital, and strategic partnerships, positioning itself as a leading force in Africa’s energy renaissance.
