Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SEPNU) has strengthened its commitment to community development by empowering 49 youths from the Niger Delta with specialized technical skills to thrive in the oil and gas sector. The initiative, part of Seplat’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, took place at the company’s Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

During the graduation ceremony, SEPNU CEO Roger Brown encouraged the new graduates to bring their best to the dynamic and competitive oil and gas industry. Brown emphasized that the graduates had been thoroughly equipped not only with technical expertise but also with the mindset and values needed for excellence. The event was themed “From Roots to Results – Three Decades of Growth”, highlighting TTC’s 30-year journey of nurturing local talent.

Since its inception, TTC has trained over 850 technicians, many of whom now occupy leadership roles within Nigeria and internationally. Recognized as the world’s first City & Guilds Centre of Excellence, the centre has built a reputation for rigorous training and high standards. The recent graduating cohort, Apprentice Group 13, was celebrated for its resilience, discipline, and excellence.

A significant achievement highlighted during the ceremony was Seplat Offshore’s attainment of two million incident-free man-hours. Brown noted that this milestone underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to safety, operational excellence, and creating a work environment where every technician returns home safely.

Graduates expressed gratitude for the opportunity, with Best Graduating Student Goodluck Enimedoukienoniso describing the achievement as both an honor and a privilege. The ceremony also paid tribute to trainers, assessors, and support staff, whose dedication has made TTC a benchmark institution for technical training in Nigeria’s energy sector.
