Google has officially launched Gemini 3, marking a major leap in artificial intelligence. This new AI model is designed to enhance reasoning, understand nuance, and provide powerful agentic capabilities across Google’s suite of products. According to CEO Sundar Pichai, the launch represents a “new chapter” in making AI more helpful, personalized, and intelligent for everyday users.
Interest in AI tools has surged worldwide, and Nigeria is no exception. Google reports that searches for “AI and studying” in Nigeria have jumped by over 200%, while queries like “how to learn AI” have grown by 160% in just the past year. Gemini 3 arrives at a time when users are increasingly looking for AI that can not only provide information but also guide learning and problem-solving.
The Gemini 3 Pro model, the first in this new family, showcases PhD-level reasoning and sets new benchmarks in complex problem-solving, understanding images, videos, and even handwritten text. This core intelligence underpins Google’s aim to make Search and other products more interactive, transforming them from passive information tools into dynamic learning companions.
One of Gemini 3’s standout features is its agentic ability to plan and execute multi-step tasks with minimal prompting. In AI Mode, users can interact with simulations—such as physics problems—or receive custom-built tools like mortgage calculators. For Google AI Ultra subscribers, the experimental Gemini Agent can orchestrate tasks across connected apps, from managing inboxes to drafting emails, effectively acting as a personal assistant.
To support developers, Google is also introducing Google Antigravity, an agent-based platform that allows AI to autonomously plan, build, and fix software projects. Built on trust, autonomy, and feedback, Antigravity acts as a mission control for multiple AI agents, enabling developers to bring ideas to life faster and more efficiently. With Gemini 3, Google is positioning AI as a proactive partner, not just a tool, in both learning and productivity.
