TikTok is giving users more control over their feeds by introducing a new feature that lets them adjust how much AI-generated content they see. Once known primarily for user-created videos, the platform now allows people to personalize their “For You” feed with a slider for AI content, alongside existing controls for topics like Dance, Sports, and Food & Drinks.
The new setting, part of TikTok’s “Manage Topics” tool, is designed to help users fine-tune the diversity of content in their feeds without removing or replacing other posts entirely. Users can access it through Settings → Content Preferences → Manage Topics, where they can dial AI-generated content up or down depending on their preferences.
This move comes as other tech giants embrace AI-first platforms. Meta recently launched Vibes, a feed dedicated to AI-generated short videos, while OpenAI debuted Sora, a platform for creating and sharing AI-generated clips. TikTok users have already been experimenting with AI to create realistic videos and visuals for various topics, including celebrity and historical content.
To make AI content more transparent, TikTok is testing “invisible watermarking” alongside existing labeling methods. The invisible watermarks can only be read by TikTok, making it harder for AI-generated content to be misrepresented when reuploaded or edited elsewhere. This builds on the platform’s current use of C2PA Content Credentials, which embed metadata to indicate AI origins.
Beyond feed controls and content labeling, TikTok is launching a $2 million AI literacy fund to support organizations like Girls Who Code. The fund aims to produce educational content that helps users understand AI safety, transparency, and responsible use, reinforcing TikTok’s commitment to making AI-driven content both engaging and trustworthy.
